Like many others my wonderful wife gave me my first Mr.Beer, over ten years ago. It was the Amber model with an air lock. She actually brewed the first batch, because I was reluctant to try. I believe that it was the Nut Brown Ale. Two weeks later we were enjoying the best beer ever (sound familiar?). We did not have the internet way back then, so I went to the LHBS to get refills and they of course told me there was a better way. So two 6.5 gallon plastic fermenters and many other bits of homebrew hardware later I was in the beer production business. I did this for a few years, kits, extracts, partial grain, Hops, brewing and bottling two cases evey two weeks. It became more of a chore than a hobby and I fell away.
A couple of years ago two different people at two different times and places told me I should revisit the brewing hobby, but I did not want it to be a chore. I recalled the little amber Keg that I had stored away and I knew that was the answer. I ordered a few refills from Mr. Beer and was very impressed with the customer service and selection of product. I found an additional keg at the thrift store and I warped it with too' hot water. I did not read the warning label. I now have many more fermenters and Mr.Beer products that I can use when I choose to brew. The 2 gallon batch size allows me great flexability in brewing and storing. I have greatly enjoyed the discussion forum and I have gained much wisdom from other posters. I would like to thank everyone who has and does make it such a friendly and open place to exchange information. How long have you been brewing? Over 10 years! What is your favorite Beer? I think my favorite brew is still the Englishman's Nut Brown Ale. I have made it in many permutations and they have all been good and some have been truely great. I have been able to share my homebrew with my beautiful wife and our friends, family, and our church family. They have been very appreciative. Who would you most like to share a beer with? My father passed when I was sixteen. If I could, I would share a Nut Brown Ale with my Dad. I could tell him about my life, family, and my modest accomplishments. I hope he would be proud. |
